The Work to be done through this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) involves the design and construction services for upgrades to the SW1 Pump Station in Edmonton, Alberta.

EPCOR intends to have the Successful Proponent complete the detailed design and construction for upgrades required at the SW1 Pump Station located in south Edmonton, at Ellerslie Road and Parsons Road.  The Work to be undertaken under the Contract involves:

Detailed Design

·  Completion of detailed design in accordance with “SESS SW1 Pump Station Upgrade conceptual Design Report” (Appendix 1, Schedule D) with option 2 as the preferred option, as well as,

·  Confirm condition of davit bases and recommend upgrade if required.

·  Conduct a transient analysis to better understand the forces observed in the system and install combination air valves based on the outcome of this analysis.

·  Completion/submission of a final design report and Issue construction drawings prior to the start of construction

·  Final design report, once reviewed by EPCOR, must be stamped and sealed by a professional engineer licenced to practice by APEGA

·  All drawings, once reviewed by EPCOR, must be stamped and sealed by a professional engineer licenced to practice by APEGA

Construction

·  Construction will involve the supply and installation of two new larger capacity pumps to operation in a duty/standby configuration for improved operation with an individual pump capacity increase to 400 L/s. Activities include, but are not limited to the following;

o  Proceed with Option 2 and replace the existing pumps with larger capacity pumps

o  Upsize discharge piping, remove grinder from the Pump 1 suction piping, and install isolation valves to provide double isolation.

o  Install Hard-IronTM impellers and wear plates to improve wear resistance and to assess their ability to mitigate damage and pump performance degradation.

·  Complete safety upgrades to ladders and platforms.

·  Confirm condition of davit bases during detailed design and upgrade as required.

The Work is contingent on EPCOR’s securing of regulatory approvals prior to the commencement of the Work, if applicable. If the approvals are not received, EPCOR may cancel this RFP and and/or obtain or proceed with procuring the Work with a subsequent RFP or in some other manner, including sole or single sourcing the Work.
