EPCOR’s intent for this project is to: (i) construct a combined sewer trunk between 80 Avenue and 88 Avenue along 97 Street and tie-in to the existing combined trunk at 80 Avenue (upstream)  and 88 Avenue (downstream); (ii) construct a sanitary sewer that redirect the flow from the intersection of 96 Street and 80 Avenue to the new tunnel on 97St; (iii) abandon the existing combined trunk east of the 97 Street along 80 Avenue and portion of the overflow combined sewer along the west bank of the Mill Creek. 

The Work is to be done under three stages: Stage 1 involves the design and construction of shaft, final structures such as drop manholes and access manhole, tie-in structures, and tunnels. The main tunnel between upstream and downstream drop manholes is approximately 830m long, 20 – 30 m deep, and 2,100mm in diameter. Stage 2 involves the construction of an approximately 216m long, 6m deep, 375mm diameter combined sewer along 80 Avenue from 96 Street to 97 Street and tie into the new tunnel on 97 Street; Stage 3 involves abandonment of approximately 625m of combined sewer trunk east of 97 Street and 80 Avenue into the Mill Creek.
